ANNOUNCES ESTABLISHMENT OF IDnet of NEW MEXICO
Shawnee Mission,
KS. - IDnet announced that it had established a new Division in New
Mexico called Intelligent Design Network of New Mexico. The unit
will be operated and managed under its Executive Director, Joe Renick,
of Los Lunas, New Mexico. Renick was also elected to the IDnet Board
of Directors at its annual meeting on July 13.
IDnet currently has offices in Shawnee Mission, Kansas and Columbus,
Ohio. The expansion into New Mexico reflects an interest in New Mexicans
in working towards an objective approach to the conduct and teaching
of origins science - one that goes beyond an "Evolution Only" curriculum..
Renick, M.S. (mechanical engineering), served on active duty with the
U. S. Air Force as a fighter pilot and retired from the Air Force Reserves
with the rank of Lt. Col. He is currently a Senior Research Scientist
at Northrop Grumman where he works in the area of testing and evaluation
of weapons, advanced weapon employment tactics, and development of advanced
weapons effects models.
"This affiliation will help jump start our effort in New Mexico and provide
a great foundation for growth of the movement, not only in New Mexico, but in
other venues as well," said Renick.
"The movement to New Mexico merely reflects a response to the recent Plain
Dealer poll in Ohio that shows 91% of Ohioan's favoring something more than an "Evolution
Only" curriculum," said John Calvert, Managing Director of IDnet. "'Evolution
Only' is a concept that uses a naturalistic assumption rather than the evidence
to rule out the only competing scientific hypothesis - design theory." Naturalism
essentially protects evolution from criticism and leads to a naturalistic world
view that is the fundamental tenet of secular humanism and scientism."
"We are expecting people from all over the country at our Symposium in Kansas
City on July 26 and 27. Hopefully some of those attendees will be encouraged
to follow the lead of Joe Renick and the organization that he is assembling in
that state," said Bill Harris, Ph.D., a nutritional biochemist and a Managing
Director of IDnet.

Intelligent Design network,
inc. is a member based nonprofit organization. IDnet promotes evidence-based
science education with regard to the origin of the universe and of
life and its diversity. It also seeks to increase public awareness
of the scientific evidence of intelligent design in the universe
and living systems.
Intelligent Design is a
scientific theory that intelligent causes are responsible for the
origin of the universe and of life and its diversity. It holds that
design is empirically detectable in nature, and particularly in living
systems. Intelligent Design is an intellectual movement that includes
a scientific research program for investigating intelligent causes
and that challenges naturalistic explanations of origins which currently
drive science education and research.
